Joe Crann has shared what he would really like to see Liam Palmer do if he is to leave Sheffield Wednesday.
Liam Palmer has been heavily linked with a move to the MLS today, with the veteran defender available to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs overseas.
Palmer ha made a whopping 416 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday, making him the 14th all-time appearance maker for the club.
With the 32-year-old’s contract set to expire in the summer, it now looks like he could potentially be on his way to the US. It is thought that MLS sides and even clubs further down in their football system are interested in signing Palmer.
The Star have claimed that Palmer is eager to stay at Hillsborough and climb up the appearances list, while he could already jump up to 12th if he plays against Southampton this weekend.
They have also reported that Sheffield Wednesday are in the process of organising a testimonial for his 14 years of services to the first team.
The Star journalist Joe Crann has reacted to the news that he could join the MLS and has shared what he would like Palmer to do before he leaves.
Writing on X, he said: “Would like to see him retire at Wednesday, but couldn’t begrudge Palmer a move like this… Finish the season at #SWFC, help keep them up, enter into the club’s top 10 appearance-makers of all time and then go have an adventure in the US after a testimonial. Be lovely.”

Liam Palmer is still over 100 appearances away from becoming Sheffield Wednesday’s all-time appearance maker, so we can probably chalk that one off.
While the defender is eager to stay with The Owls, he could feel like his time is up towards the end of the season.
The veteran has impressed in a midfield role in recent games and could play a key role with his leadership in experience to keep them up this year, but he will surely know that his game time will be very limited next season.
At only 32, Palmer still has plenty of first-team football under his belt and may have to move on if he wants to avoid warming the bench.
When everyone is fit, Danny Rohl could well have the likes of Dominic Iorfa, Pol Valentin, Di’Shon Bernard, Akin Famewo and Reece James all ahead of him.
His £12,000-per-week wages are also a hefty chunk to be coughing up when he is barely playing.
