This Sheffield Wednesday veteran has MLS clubs queuing up to sign him this month.
Sheffield Wednesday have a number of players out of contract in the summer, with said players now in the final six months of their deal and free to agree pre-contract deals with clubs overseas.
And one player attracting transfer interest right now is Liam Palmer.
The Star say that clubs in the MLS and further down in the US football system are eyeing a move for the 32-year-old as he reaches the end of his current Sheffield Wednesday deal.
Palmer, who was born in Worksop, has featured 416 times for the Owls, ranking him 14th in the club’s all-time appearance list.
The Star also adds though that Wednesday are currently in the process of arranging a testimonial match for Palmer, which could suggest their plans to offload him in the summer.
Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday now facing some tough decision
Danny Rohl may be wary of coming in and offloading long-standing players like Palmer, who’ve been at the club for a lot longer than he has.
And he’s been a great servant over the years, playing key roles in some successful Wednesday sides over the years and putting in one of his best shifts in last season’s promotion-winning campaigns.
He remains a versatile option at the back and someone who can put in a shift. But at 32 years old, Rohl and co may be wanting to usher in the next generation of Wednesday talents, and the fact that the club is planning a testimonial for Palmer suggests that they’re ready to move him on.
But with injuries to the likes of Dominic Iorfa, Palmer is playing right now, and he could yet play his way to a new deal.
Former Owls boss Darren Moore was a huge admirer of Palmer, describing the right-back as ‘Mr Reliable’.

416 total games in 14 years with Sheffield Wednesday averages Palmer 29.7 appearances per season; not to mention we’re only half way through this season.
Although he’s had his injury troubles, he’s often available, and if nothing else he could be a squad player for Rohl next season.
32 is not old for a footballer in the age of sports science and what not. Whether a move to the MLS would entice Palmer remains to be seen as well.
It’s certainly an interesting link and it’ll surely give Palmer food for thought as we enter into this crucial half-a-season for the Owls, who remain in 22nd place of the Championship table.
