Sheffield Wednesday may well have been handed a major boost where one in demand player is concerned.
Sheffield Wednesday have seen a few names linked with moves away this month.
The likes of Josh Windass and Liam Palmer have both had MLS suitors, whilst Marvin Johnson has been subject of interest from Ipswich Town.
It was reported that Sheffield Wednesday rejected a £1million bid from the Tractor Boys who were expected to return with an improved offer.
That’s yet to happen though, and it appears that Kieran McKenna’s side might be turning their attentions elsewhere.

Ipswich Town are desperate to sign a left-back this month after Manchester United loanee Brandon Williams picked up an injury, and returned to Carrington to step up his recovery.
Johnson was obviously targeted by an emerging report from East Anglian Daily Times has revealed that Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday are far apart in their valuation of the 33-year-old, and that the Tactor Boys are now weighing up a move for ex-Middlesbrough man Marc Bola who currently plays for Samsunspor in Turkey.
Marvin Johnson potentially set to stay, but it may be a missed opportunity
Johnson is a quality player and someone who compliments Danny Rohl‘s style of play very well.
But at 33 years old, and likely being one of the many out of contract this summer after the length of his extension last season wasn’t disclosed, £1million would’ve been a huge coup for Sheffield Wednesday.
That’s the view shared by many fans, but now it seems like the door may have closed for the Owls.
Keeping Johnson is obviously a positive but that £1million could’ve been used to bring in two or maybe even three new players; younger ones who Rohl could’ve moulded to his liking.
There’s a longer-term project at Sheffield Wednesday with Rohl at the helm and whilst survival this season remains paramount, there needs to be a thought to the years ahead, and selling Johnson now have made sense in the long-run.
Up next for the Owls is an FA Cup fourth round clash vs Coventry City tomorrow night.
It’s a second successive home game against the Sky Blues, and expect Rohl to field another strong XI as he looks to get some momentum going after back-to-back defeats in the league.
