Sheffield Wednesday’s pursuit of Ike Ugbo remains ongoing after lodging their interest at the end of the summer.
Ugbo captured fans’ hearts when he netted seven goals during his brief loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday last season.
The striker’s goals earned the Owls a whopping nine points, paying huge contribution to their Championship survival.
Ugbo has since returned to Troyes though, and despite his eagerness to return to the club, Wednesday have so far struggled to agree on a fee with the French outfit.

Journalist plays down Ugbo’s £4.5m price tag
While it had been well reported that Troyes were keen to make a hefty fee on his exit, it was a huge blow to Wednesday when a £4.5 million valuation emerged this week.
It was expected that the Yorkshire club wouldn’t be willing to meet such a price tag, however they have now received a boost in their bid to re-sign Ugbo.
Journalist Alex Miller has wrote on X: “Owls interest in Ugbo remains and I’m told the deal may well be doable at less than has been reported this week.”
It is still unclear how much Wednesday will actually have to pay Troyes, but they will surely be a lot more willing to cough up a seven-figure sum if significantly less than £4.5m.
The Owls need to end this transfer saga now
The Owls won’t want to overpay for Ugbo, but as deadline day approaches later this month, they could come under great pressure to agree a deal.
Likewise, if Troyes want to sell up and make a profit, they could potentially lower their asking price if no one is willing to meet it.
Wednesday are clear frontrunners for his signature though, so if they may well have to take the leap and pay a few million to bring him back to Hillsborough.
Given his importance to the team in the second half of last season, he would surely be worth the money they would pay for him.
Wednesday will really want to get a deal wrapped up before the start of the campaign, as winning games could get a lot harder without their favoured No.9 spearheading a much stronger squad than he previously led.
