Sheffield Wednesday came close to the signing of Arsenal striker Mika Biereth before he chose to join Sturm Graz last week.

So, what was the situation with Wednesday and Biereth? Let’s take a closer look…
Sheffield Wednesday almost signed Mika Biereth
Well, it looks very much as though another one has bitten the dust as far as Sheffield Wednesday and their transfer shortlist goes.
According to The Star, Wednesday were extremely close to snaring Biereth from Arsenal before Sturm Graz came forward.
The 20-year-old striker spent the first half of the campaign on loan with Motherwell and he did well in Scotland.
The Arsenal academy prospect scored six goals and claimed five assists before being recalled in January by the Gunners.

Biereth has now headed to Sturm Graz where he will see out the season with the club who are still in the Europa Conference League.
Wednesday have been quite active so far in the transfer window and Biereth was linked as another striker option.
The Owls have already signed Ike Ugbo this month and it’s not really a secret that Danny Rohl would love to add more firepower.

The Owls would love to get another striker over the line to complement what they already have in place at Hillsborough.
Michael Smith and Lee Gregory could both depart the club this month and that might leave Rohl short somewhat.
Although Biereth would have been a prospect for the future, he might have been a risk from a Wednesday perspective.
Throwing him into a Championship relegation scrap could have been a difficult environment for him and perhaps someone with a bit more experience would be better.
The clock is ticking for Wednesday in their quest to sign new players and Rohl will hope for some movement before the end of the window.
