Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with a potentially ambitious loan swoop for Philadelphia Union and Hungary attacker Daniel Gazdag.
Sheffield Wednesday have brought in one attacker already this month, signing Ike Ugbo on loan from Troyes.
But with a clutch of Wednesday attackers being linked away, including the likes of Michael Smith, another attacking addition looks likely at Hillsborough this month.
And The Star recently revealed that Gazdag is a potential target.
He’s currently inactive after the end of the MLS season and it’s said that he could be made available on loan, and that the Owls have been made aware of his potential availability.
Daniel Gazdag, the story so far
Born in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, Gazdag was snapped up by his local team where he spent his youth career, before being signed by top tier outfit Honved in 2010.
Then in 2013 he made his league debut for Budapest-based outfit Honved, who’ve won the Hungarian top flight 14 times in their history.
Gazdag would spend eight years at the club, contributing to one of their 14 title wins as well as winning the Hungarian Cup.
The attacking midfielder made 212 total appearances for Honved, scoring 31 and assisting 32 before earning an MLS move in 2021 with Philadelphia Union.
Since, Gazdag has shone; he’s already scored 40 and assisted 15 in 89 MLS appearances for Union, being named in the MLS Best XI in 2022.
On the international scene, Gazdag has 23 caps with four goals to his name, currently being an active member of the Hungarian international side.

Daniel Gazdag to Sheffield Wednesday analysis
It was suggested before January that Sheffield Wednesday could target the MLS.
It’s a market that the Owls have early delved into but one that has produced some top Premier League players; Miguel Almiron at Newcastle United being one, then Daryl Dike at West Brom another.
And with the MLS in its off-season, it could make sense for Gazdag to depart on loan, keep fit and potentially put himself in the European shop window after his impressive record in 2023 where he scored 15 and assisted 10 in the MLS.
But that record could attract some of the top end Championship clubs, if not top flight clubs around Europe, so for a Wednesday side who remain in 22nd place of the Championship table, this move seems like an ambitious one at the moment.
