Xisco Munoz has confirmed that Sheffield Wednesday are looking at the possibility of signing Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell. The stopper was on loan at Hillsborough during the 2021/22 campaign and the Owls are keen for a reunion.

The club have only added one player to their ranks this summer. Now, Munoz has told Yorkshire Live, that he’s hoping to see some activity in the coming weeks, with Peacock-Farrell firmly on the radar.

Wednesday are currently out in Spain. They drew 0-0 with Real Murcia last night inside the Pinatar Arena and the game proved a useful workout for the Owls as they get used to how Munoz wants them to play.

A goalkeeper will definitely be on the radar for the club though. Promotion-winning hero Cameron Dawson is the only senior custodian at the club and some competition is definitely required.

Peacock-Farrell was part of the Burnley squad that won promotion last season. The 26-year-old was considered the team’s cup goalkeeper and played seven games across two competitions.

He made 16 appearances in all competitions but with the Clarets in the Premier League, they are keen to have a reshuffle of their goalkeepers ahead of the new season.

Munoz has now confirmed Wednesday’s interest, telling Yorkshire Live: “Maybe yes, maybe no. He is one of the goalkeepers that we have on our list. I think he could be important for us.”

This would be a very useful signing for Wednesday indeed. With Peacock-Farrell and Dawson competing for the gloves, it could see the Owls set up for many years at Hillsborough.

Peacock-Farrell made 47 appearances for Wednesday during his time on loan. He became a fan favourite and the short-sleeve-wearing goalkeeper proved a huge hit.

Now, he could be on his way back to Wednesday. Munoz desperately needs another senior stopper and having someone who already knows the club would be ideal.

Vincent Kompany praised the stopper last season. He said: “The main this is that we’ve always been able to rely on him. He’s made us look good this season. Bailey has been top – his performances have been good.”
