Sheffield Wednesday missed out on a striker on deadline day, so expect the club to target a new one in the summer.
Danny Rohl wanted to sign Duncan McGuire from Orlando City on deadline day, but the move failed, and now the Owls look to be lacking in the attacking department.
It promises to be a frantic final 16 games for the club and a frantic summer too, with a number of players out of contract including strikers Michael Smith and Lee Gregory, with Ike Ugbo’s loan spell also set to end.
With that in mind, here are three strikers who Sheffield Wednesday could sign for free in the summer…
Scott Hogan previously wanted by Sheffield Wednesday
One player who is out of contract in the summer and already known to Sheffield Wednesday is Scott Hogan.
The 31-year-old Birmingham City man was linked ahead of the January transfer window but then came back into contention under Tony Mowbray, quickly putting to bed any rumours of a winter exit.
He sat the last game vs West Brom on the bench though and with Blues bolstering well in January, Hogan is once again looking certain to leave in the summer.
Hogan has 94 career goals to his name with 67 of those coming in the Championship.
Jonson Clarke-Harris
The Peterborough United hotshot remains at London Road after turning down the opportunity to leave the club last month.
He’s been in a contract stand-off with Posh throughout this season, forcing manager Darren Ferguson to axe him from the side; Clarke-Harris has made just three substitute appearances since the start of the year.
But the one-time Jamaican international has still scored six in the league this season, adding to the colossal 27 he scored last time round.
Clarke-Harris has won the League One Golden Boot on two occasions, potentially making him the ideal man to fire Sheffield Wednesday back to the second tier should they be relegated.
Tom Bradshaw
The 31-year-old former Barnsley man looks set to leave Millwall at the end of this season, after six seasons and 42 league goals.
Bradshaw netted 17 in the Championship last season but has only four to his name this season, having become a back up striker following the club’s summer transfer business.
But the eight-cap Welshman remains an experienced striker and he’ll no doubt have plenty of suitors should he become a free agent in the summer.
Regardless of what league the Owls are in next season, Bradshaw could be a huge coup for Rohl’s side.
