Sheffield Wednesday have placed Scott Hogan at the top of their January wish list, according to Alan Nixon of The Sun.
The Owls are looking to sign a striker in the mid-season window and the Birmingham City man is on their list.
Wednesday won 1-0 at Stoke City yesterday, with Bailey Cadamarteri starting the game as the striker again.
The 31-year-old hasn’t been getting game time at Birmingham this season and could now be on the move.
Hogan wanted by Wednesday
Alan Nixon has made this claim in his transfer column for The Sun today.
Wednesday need a striker and Hogan does have pedigree in the Championship.
He’s played for several clubs during his career including Brentford, Aston Villa and more recently Birmingham.
Hogan hasn’t been featuring under Wayne Rooney and he will be craving regular action for the second half of the season.
The 31-year-old has found the net just once this season but he does have a track record of scoring in the second tier.
Wednesday need additions in January
Hogan might not be the big name that Wednesday fans are craving but he’d be a safe pair of hands.
The experienced talisman could be ideal for Cadamarteri’s development and that’s another feather in Hogan’s cap.
Wednesday need some new players following their summer window that wasn’t overly successful.
The Owls fancy Hogan and it will be interesting to see whether Dejphon Chansiri signs him on loan or permanently.
It was claimed recently that the owner will sanction a big-money signing but Hogan probably doesn’t fit that mantra.
Nonetheless, however, Hogan would be a useful addition to the ranks and with 67 goals in 249 appearances at Championship level, he shouldn’t be underestimated.
