It’s been a tough month for Sheffield Wednesday so far. But with Dejphon Chansiri back in the country, it could signal towards a busy final week of the window.
Chansiri is in England, hopefully to facilitate and help oversee some much-needed Sheffield Wednesday transfers in the final week of the transfer window.
So far this month the Owls have signed just James Beadle and Ike Ugbo on loan.
Danny Rohl would surely have expected a few more through the doors by now and he may well have been expecting to have had a few out of the door now as well; though signings certainly seems like the priority.
Ahead of the final week of the transfer window, we look at three incoming Sheffield Wednesday transfers that could realistically unfold before the window slams shut on February 1st…
Jordan Jones – In
Wigan Athletic and Northern Ireland winger Jordan Jones has recently been linked with Sheffield Wednesday.
The one-time Rangers and Sunderland winger has scored twice and assisted four more in 17 League One appearances for Wigan this season, and HITC are reporting that Wednesday, along with relegation rivals Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town are all keen on the 29-year-old.
His current Wigan contract expires at the end of this season.
Isaac Hayden – In
Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has been tipped to leave St James’ Park on loan this month, after seeing his spell in Belgium with Standard Liege cut short.
Sheffield Wednesday were linked in the summer and have been linked again in this month’s window. But it seemed like Preston were the team in pole position after the Lilywhites held talks with the 28-year-old.
It’s since been revealed however that Preston view Hayden as a back-up option should one of their players be moved on in the final week of the window, potentially handing a lifeline to the Owls where Hayden is regarded.
Daniel Gazdag – In
The Hungarian international was linked last week with his Philadelphia Union side currently in the off-season of the MLS.
Gazdag netted 15 goals and assisted 10 more for Union in the 2023 MLS campaign and it’s said that Sheffield Wednesday are keen on an ambitious potential loan deal for the 27-year-old, who’s never before played in England.
This looks like a hugely exciting link for the Owls and if the likes of Josh Windass or even Marvin Johnson move on, Rohl and Wednesday may swoop for Gazdag in a bid to bolster their attacking prowess.
