Three forwards who Sheffield Wednesday could target in January, including ‘insane’ Liverpool talent

The January transfer window might not be the busiest for Sheffield Wednesday, but they certainly need to look at bringing in a new attacker.

Sheffield Wednesday have been highly inconsistent this season, with Danny Rohl’s side unable to put together two consecutive wins all year.

One of the main issues has been a lack of composure in front of goal, and Rohl has been told he has to look for attacking reinforcements in January.

However, we know that Sheffield Wednesday will not have any money to spend in the New Year, so it’ll be loan deals or free agents for the Owls this time around.

So, here are three attacking options Wednesday could look to bring in that won’t break the bank.

Jayden Danns is coming back from injury

When he first broke through at Liverpool, Jayden Danns was described as an ‘insane’ talent by Jurgen Klopp, but his development has been hampered by a back injury this season.

The 18-year-old is now back in training and will be ready and raring to go, but with all that time lost this term, he may need to find an alternate route into Arne Slot’s plans for the future.

Danns would benefit massively from half a season in the Championship, and that hunger to prove himself twinned with his immense technical ability and finishing skills would make him a brilliant addition to Rohl’s squad.

Deivid Washington is crowded out at Chelsea

Among Chelsea’s many, many signings this summer, Brazilian wonderkid Deivid Washington arrived and then faded away into the Under-21 squad.

He’s registered two goals and an assist already in three Premier League 2 games so far this season, and looks exactly the kind of lively, flair attacker Sheffield Wednesday need to invigorate their flailing forward line.

With the Chelsea squad looking bloated, there’s almost no chance of Washington making a breakthrough there this year, and the only real obstacle to Wednesday’s hopes of signing him would be the fact other clubs are very likely to be circling, too.

Sheffield Wednesday could gamble on Ryan Kent

The free agent market is not exactly stocked with top talent right now, but there are some wildcards out there still searching for a new club, and Ryan Kent is one of them.

The 28-year-old was released by Fenerbahce in October, and will surely be desperate to get back on his feet as quickly as possible.

A return to the Championship could be just what Kent needs, and the winger knows the league well having spent time there with Barnsley and Bristol City in the past.

If Kent could operate in a similar role to Josh Windass, almost as a wide forward on the left rather than an out-and-out winger, Rohl could find a brilliant balance in his attacking line, with lots of creativity either side of his central striker.
