Bailey Cadamarteri has cemented his place in the Sheffield Wednesday first-team with his recent performances.
Last month, Cadamarteri was a youth player at Sheffield Wednesday, just about on the peripheries of the first-team.
Now, the 18-year-old looks like he could play a key role for Danny Rohl and his side as they battle for survival in the Championship.
The Owls academy graduate could also pave the way for more of the club’s emerging youngsters to work their way into Rohl’s first-team plans, and here’s three who could follow in Cadamarteri’s footsteps this season…
Pierce Charles
Sheffield Wednesday have an impressive goalkeeper in their youth ranks in Pierce Charles.
The 18-year-old has been pictured in first-team training on occasion but is yet to make his first-team debut for the Owls.
A Northern Ireland U19 international, Charles could well come into the thinking if the debate over Cameron Dawson and Devis Vasquez rumbles on into next year, though it looks like next season will be a better chance for Charles to force his way into the first-team picture.
Rio Shipston
The 19-year-old central midfielder is a name that Sheffield Wednesday fans have bene hearing about, and they got their first glimpse of the Englishman last season.
He made three appearances in League One but hasn’t featured in the Championship.
Shipston was held in high regards by former boss Darren Moore who introduced him into the first-team, labelling him as an ‘intelligent’ player and backing him to have a bright future at the club.
With some experienced central midfielders at the club, Shipston has some good names to learn from, and with several midfielders on loan, next season could be a chance for the youngster to impress.
Gui Siqueira
The Brazilian full-back joined in the summer after a fairly lengthy trial period.
He’s yet to be seen in the first-team but it seems like he’s making an impression in the youth sides, playing regularly for the U21s despite being just 18-years-old.
The full-back positions have been quite contested in the first-team this season, with no natural full-back managing to hold down a starting spot.
That could pave the way for Siqueira to stake his claim in 2024.
