Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to bounce back from their 4-0 defeat to Sunderland tonight.
The Owls headed to Wearside with an unchanged team, but were immediately punished as they conceded three goals inside 24 minutes.
Sheffield Wednesday were dominated in midfield and have pushed ahead with a search for a new No.6 as a result, while their full-backs came under fire for their ‘appalling’ performance.
Rohl needs to make attacking changes v Leeds Utd
It was a defensive disaster from the Yorkshire outfit and there is no doubt that Danny Rohl will make changes against Leeds United, but he may also benefit from swapping things around up top too.
Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba looked lively against Plymouth, with the latter picking up an assist. However, it arguably should have been more and their end product came into question.
Against Sunderland, the pair made a total of one successful cross, one key pass, one shot and lost possession 21 times.
Jamal Lowe was given very little to feed off and was eventually pushed out wide.
The 30-year-old has bags of experience in the Championship and has so often played out wide, picking up plenty of goals and assists from that position.
Lowe may enjoy much more success if he returns to his wide position against Leeds United today, and that will allow Rohl to bring in Ike Ugbo.
The ‘crucial’ striker hasn’t started a game since returning to Wednesday, but set Hillsborough alight with seven goals in 18 games last term.
Can Ike Ugbo be the game-changer?
Ugbo was pivotal to their survival and could well be just as pivotal to their chances at reaching the play-offs this time round.
The Canadian hasn’t had any pre-season training with the team, but it is time for Rohl to throw him in and rely on him to make the big chances count.
Wednesday are unlikely to get too many of them against a team like Leeds, so they need a big No.9 like Ugbo to help put them away and hopefully scrape a point or three.
Lowe could also take Gassama’s place and may offer him much better service on the wing, while his finishing product could even see him get a few shots off himself.
While it is the midfield and defence that definitely need a lot of work if they are to avoid a repeat of the Sunderland loss, making slight tweaks to the attack can only benefit them this evening.
