Sheffield Wednesday kickstart life under new boss Danny Rohl with a trip to Vicarage Road this weekend, where the Owls take on an out of form Watford side.
Wednesday sit in last place of the table and are yet to win a single game this season, whilst the Hornets have won just two this season and sit in 20th place of the table as things stand.
It promises to be a tough game for both sides, and Watford will have been hoping that former boss Xisco Munoz was still in charge at Wednesday, with Rohl very much an unknown quantity.
Who’s out for Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday?
Right now, Momo Diaby seems to be the only injury concern for Wednesday, who have a relatively clean bill of health.
Key duo Barry Bannan and Josh Windass have been pictured in first-team training ahead of the weekend, whilst Marvin Johnson is back at Melwood after his exile under Munoz.
What can we expect from Rohl?
Until we see Rohl’s Wednesday in action, who knows. He’s only ever been an assistant and so there’s very little to go off.
But the German has said in interviews this week that formation doesn’t always matter; it’s about principles, and the principles he favours are winning the ball high, staying compact, and attacking the opposition at the right moment.
The high press seems like something Rohl will want to implement straight away, and he has some fast, energetic players who could help to deploy that; the likes of 22-year-old Anthony Musaba could be vital, with the summer signing labelled ‘very good’ by Munoz.
And a 4-2-3-1 formation could Rohl enough attacking players on the pitch to really press Watford and push them back.
Who to start in goal could be an issue for Rohl. It remains to be seen if he wants a goalkeeper who plays out from the back or one who simply stops shots; given the position Wednesday are in, playing out from the back might not be the best idea, and so Cameron Dawson could keep his place in the side.
