Sheffield Wednesday gave their squad a complete makeover during the summer transfer window.
The Owls narrowly avoided relegation last season after a plucky start to the year.
Danny Rohl didn’t go easy on his team though and released eight players, while he brought ten new additions.
Sheffield Wednesday were tipped for a very good season after such a busy summer and it looked to be that way as they thrashed Plymouth Argyle 4-0 on the opening day.
However, the three consecutive defeats that followed seem to have told a different story so far.
The Owls won’t be looking back with any regret though, while a number of their former players have certainly been enjoying life away from Hillsborough too. However, some of them haven’t been so fortunate.

How Sheffield Wednesday’s released players have fared
Cameron Dawson
Despite managing only 18 appearances in the Championship last season, Dawson was surprisingly offered a new contract by Wednesday.
The goalkeeper chose to leave as a free-agent though and eventually joined Rotherham United in League One.
Dawson will have been desperate to finally become first-choice and was prepared to drop down a division to do so.
However, things haven’t gone to plan so far, with the 29-year-old still waiting for his league debut.
Dawson has started both of Rotherham’s matches in the Carabao Cup, conceding twice. But he is yet to make an appearance in the third division, with Dillon Phillips currently starting in between the sticks.
The 29-year-old joined The Millers at the same time as Dawson, but seems to have pipped his new teammate to the post for the No. 1 spot.
Dawson could well already be regretting his decision to move to Rotherham this summer.
Reece James
James’ exit came as no surprise after making only nine appearances last term.
The defender also joined Rotherham and started the last four league games, as well as once in the cup.
James was recently hailed for his ‘lovely’ performance in a 0-0 draw with Bristol Rovers, with the Rotherham Advertiser claiming he ‘can do a bit of everything’.
Ciaran Brennan
Brennan only managed 18 appearances in six years for Wednesday before he was released.
The defender went onto join Newport County and has started all five of their league games so far – making his debut in midfield.
However, Brennan was shown a straight red card in this weekend’s 4-1 defeat to Port Vale, though the South Wales Argus have claimed it was ‘somewhat harshly’.
Tyreeq Bakinson
Bakinson joined Wycombe Wanderers this summer and made his first start in League One on the opening day, however he was then dropped from the starting line-up.
The midfielder has only managed three minutes of action in their previous two league outings and already looks to have fallen down the pecking order at Adams Park.
George Byers
Byers wasn’t handed his first start for Port Vale until this weekend, but made a good first impression in the win over Newport.
The midfielder had 91% passing accuracy and completed more tackles than any other player on the pitch (5).
Port Vale sit in 12th place in League Two after winning two of their opening five matches.
Will Vaulks
Wednesday were sad to see Vaulks leave when he decided to join Oxford United instead of signing a new contract.
The midfielder has unsurprisingly been a regular in their squad and enjoyed a ‘superb’ start to the season, while the Oxford Mail claimed he has already ‘established himself as a leader’. There is the belief that he will be ‘key’ for the team as they look to stay in the Championship.
Juan Delgado
Delgado only made ten appearances for the Owls due to injury, but was released at the end of the season.
The Chilean went onto join Everton in his home country but hasn’t featured in the Primera Division since making his debut, becoming an unused substitute on four occasions, while he was completely left out of the squad another three times.
Lee Gregory
Gregory returned to Mansfield Town this summer, where he began his senior career.
The striker dropped back down to League One following The Stags’ promotion to the third division.
Gregory has started all four of Mansfield’s league games this term and scored in their first two matches, including scoring a 97th minute winner against Burton last month.
