Sheffield Wednesday played out a 0-0 draw in their final friendly against Leganes.
The Owls ended their preseason campaign with Liam Palmer’s testimonial at Hillsborough, but were unable to claim a goal to top off his celebrations.
Sheffield Wednesday kicked off the clash with a starting line-up that could look very similar to the one that starts against Plymouth Argyle next weekend, with the likes of Max Lowe, Yan Valery and Jamal Lowe featuring.
However, there was a host of key players missing from the squad, and that included three of the new signings in Olaf Kobacki, Svante Ingelsson and Nathaniel Chalobah.
The latter two have a very good chance at being included in the team to face Plymouth given their lack of midfielders, but they failed to make an appearance on the final day of preseason.
However, Danny Rohl has now explained that they were instead included in the Owls’ behind-closed-doors friendly against Rotherham United on Friday.

The likes of Di’Shon Bernard, Pol Valentin and Michael Smith were also included as they played out another 0-0 stalemate against The Millers.
Speaking to The Star, Rohl said: “We had a game yesterday and for me it was about everybody getting minutes and load, that is why the decision was made (to play a second game.
“I spoke with the players and it was good to see yesterday. The result was OK but it was not the important thing, I saw a lot of good things. Today I saw a lot of good things and now I will put all the things together in my mind and we go forward.”
Who will start v Plymouth Argyle?
Wednesday look well prepared for their opener next weekend, but the two friendlies in recent days make it hard to work out what Rohl’s starting XI will be.
There are still a number of positions up for grabs, with various players from both the Leganes friendly and the Rotherham clash likely to compete for places in the team.
Rohl mostly has a number of options in each positions, but he will still be eager to bring in Ike Ugbo before next weekend to ensure he has a recognised No.9.
Bailey Cadamarteri could be on his way out on loan and it seems highly unlikely that Charlie McNeill would be trusted, so fans could instead see Lowe deployed as a striker – the position that he took up against their Spanish opposition yesterday.
