Sheffield Wednesday signed Jeff Hendrick on loan from Newcastle United last summer.
Sheffield Wednesday ended the last summer transfer window fairly frantically, but getting what seemed like two good players in on loan.
Hendrick joined on loan for the season along with John Buckley from Blackburn Rovers.
Buckley in particular seemed like a decent capture and many thought Hendrick would add some quality and experience to the midfield as well.
Though Buckley has since returned to parent club Blackburn and Hendrick has barely played for Sheffield Wednesday.

The 32-year-old Hendrick has 448 career appearances to his name across spells with Derby County, Burnley, Newcastle United, QPR, Reading, and now Sheffield Wednesday.
But only 11 of those appearances have come in a Wednesday shirt.
Hendrick has featured 10 times in the Championship this season, scoring one goal; a late equaliser against Leicester City back in December.
That’ll surely prove to be the only highlight of Hendrick’s time in S6 with the midfielder having featured just once in the FA Cup in 2024.
He’s currently not registered to play in the Championship but could make a return ahead of the final run-in.

Hendrick signed a four-year contract with the Magpies back in 2020.
He’s out of contract this summer and bound to become a free agent, with Newcastle surely desperate to get him off their wage bill.
And how much of his current wages Wednesday are paying remains to be seen, but as per Salary Sport, Hendrick earns a whopping £50,000-a-week.
Hendrick joined Sheffield Wednesday on September 1st last year and will officially return to Newcastle at the end of June, which is also when his contract expires, and in that time he’ll have earned little over £2,150,000 in wages.
That then equates to £43,000 per Championship appearance for Sheffield Wednesday, or £4,526.32 per minute played in the league.
Woeful transfer planning from the Owls
Sheffield Wednesday’s last summer transfer window was a calamity.
Although the Owls signed some decent names in Djeidi Gassama, Anthony Musaba, and Di’Shon Bernard, the team was left completely out of balance.
The midfield was top heavy come January, hence the departures of Buckley, George Byers, and Tyreeq Bakinson, which arguably left the midfield department too light.
But Hendrick seems like a very poor signing from the Owls.
He played a lot of football at Reading last season but wasn’t a standout player necessarily, and how much game time he was going to get at Wednesday with Barry Bannan, Will Vaulks, and Byers already at the club was a big question.
He’ll no doubt become a free agent in the summer and the Owls will hopefully learn from their mistakes, and not sign a player on colossal wages who can also be somewhat injury prone.
