Sheffield Wednesday drew 1-1 at home to Leicester City in the Championship tonight.
Sheffield Wednesday welcomed league leaders Leicester City to Hillsborough this evening.
Most backed the Owls to succumb to Leicester’s quality which has seen them steamroll the Championship so far, with Enzo Maresca’s side having already surpassed the 40 point mark.
But after what was a hardened performance, Danny Rohl‘s Sheffield Wednesday earned a deserved point in the end, on what was a memorable night at Hillsborough.
Here’s three things we learned about Sheffield Wednesday following their draw vs Leicester City…
Rohl uncovers new gem
Tonight marked a first league start for Owls youngster Bailey Cadamarteri, and he certainly impressed.
The 18-year-old is someone who Wednesday fans have wanted to see make a breakthrough for a long time now, with the striker having been prolific in the youth ranks.
And he’s slowly been integrated into the first-team, making his first start tonight against the league leaders and putting in a good shift before being brought off near the hour mark.
He’s a livewire in attack, giving Rohl something different to the likes of Michael Smith, Lee Gregory, and Ashley Fletcher, with Cadamarteri able to compliment that pressing game that Rohl is deploying.
Hillsborough can be a fortress

If Sheffield Wednesday are to have a chance of staying up this season, they need to pick up points at home.
And whilst home form has been poor, the Owls showed tonight that they can go toe-to-toe with the best in the league when playing at Hillsborough.
Rohl’s side were arguably unlucky not to win in the end with Wednesday having plenty of chances in the first half especially, and tonight’s result is certainly a performance that the club can take confidence from and build upon.
Sheffield Wednesday CAN create chances
Despite having scored just nine goals in 18 Championship games so far this season, Sheffield Wednesday created 12 chances against a Leicester side who’ve conceded just 11 times this season.
The Owls had three shots on goal and should probably have had more than one goal on the night.
So whilst those getting the chances need to start taking them, Rohl knows that his side can create chances, and against the best team in the league as well.
Following tonight’s game, Sheffield Wednesday remain in last place and 12 points behind Darren Moore’s Huddersfield Town, so their back remains against the wall, but tonight’s performance should breed some confidence.
Up next is a home game vs Blackburn Rovers this weekend.
