The international break is almost at an end, meaning Sheffield Wednesday fans can start to get excited about seeing their team back in action, but Danny Rohl has a few players missing ahead of the game against Cardiff City.
Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to bounce back after the disappointment of a Steel City derby defeat before the international break.
Danny Rohl’s side are currently sitting in 15th place in the Championship table after 15 games, but will be looking nervously over their shoulders at the clubs below them.
One of them, Cardiff, are making the trip to Hillsborough for the early kick-off on Saturday afternoon. The Bluebirds are in the relegation zone as things stand, but are just three points behind Wednesday going into the weekend.

Akin Famewo one of three out for Sheffield Wednesday
Rohl will be without three players for Saturday’s game, with Akin Famewo, Olaf Kobacki, and Michael Ihiekwi all out of action.
After suffering a muscle injury at the end of October, Famewo is expected to face a ‘big’ spell on the sidelines for the Owls.
Ihiekwi’s Achilles injury is taking longer than anticipated to heal up, and the defender is also likely to be out for a while still.
Meanwhile, Kobacki, one of Sheffield Wednesday’s summer signings, is set to be missing for the rest of the month, at least.

Nathaniel Chalobah could be back in action
The good news is, Nathaniel Chalobah is pushing to be in contention for the weekend, after failing to make an appearance for Wednesday since arriving in the summer.
Chalobah played 45 minutes for Sheffield Wednesday’s Under-21s team on Monday afternoon against Burnley, and while it will be too soon for him to start on Saturday, we would not be surprised to see him on the bench.

Cardiff City struggling with injuries
As for Wednesday’s opponents, Cardiff will definitely be without Kion Etete. The young striker is out for roughly another month, after picking up a leg injury during the summer.
It’s not looking good for five other players in the Cardiff squad, either, with Callum Robinson and Alex Robertson both struggling, and Ryotaro Tsunoda, Aaron Ramsey, and Joe Ralls all expected to be on the sidelines until the end of the month.
Any one of those five could make it onto the bench if they have a good week of rehabilitation, but that’s a big if.
