Sheffield Wednesday defender Juan Delgado has returned to Wednesday’s training ground, Middlewood Road, to continue his rehabilitation.
The Chile international picked up a hip injury after he was announced to be going away with La Roja before the international break, but then the Chile FA announced that he would be having surgery on his hip.
He had his operation later that day, and has now returned to the club to continue his road to recovery.
Delgado injury a blow
Delgado’s injury came just after the manager who signed him, Xisco Munoz, was sacked after going ten games without a win in the Championship.
Unfortunately for the Chilean, this injury will keep him on the sidelines for an extended period of time, meaning he will have to wait to show new manager Danny Rohl what he can do.
The 30-year-old has made ten appearances in the Championship so far this season, scoring his only goal in the 4-2 defeat to Hull City near the beginning of the season.
Delgado will be a miss for Wednesday, as he offers plenty of versatility across the pitch.
He can play anywhere down the right hand side, and can operate on the left hand side in more defensive roles.
He joined Wednesday in the summer on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at Pacos de Ferreira in the Portuguese top flight.
He came through at Colo-Colo in his home nation, before moving to Europe with Gimnastic in Spain in 2016.
He spent time on loan at Tondela in Portugal before moving to Necaxa in Mexico in 2019, where he would spend two years before heading back to Portugal in 2021 to join Pacos de Ferreira.
