Akin Famewo is one of many Sheffield Wednesday players that have spoken very highly of Danny Rohl.
Speaking ahead of today’s trip to Stoke City, the defender praised the coach’s ‘incredibly detailed’ training sessions.
Danny Rohl was relatively unknown in English football when he was appointed as Xisco Munoz’s replacement, with the move to Hillsborough his first job in senior management after coaching for the likes of RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and the German national team.
Despite being only 34 years old, Rohl has very quickly installed a fresh mentality and a lot of positivity around a club that sit glued to the bottom of the Championship table.
Akin Famewo, who has made five starts under Rohl, has now spoken highly of his new manager and has given us a sneak peak of what occurs during his training sessions.
As per The Star, Famewo said: “There was one training session where he boxed off the pitch and it wasn’t a normal shape.
“It was more like a diamond. At the time I was thinking, ‘Why is it a diamond?’ It was all about the positioning he wants from people, he wants certain runs.

“After the training session we went into the game and he was telling me about my run being diagonal and it just made so much sense. That was exactly what we’d done in training and now I was seeing it in a game, flourishing… He’s incredibly detailed.”
How far can Danny Rohl take Sheffield Wednesday?
The defender certainly isn’t the first time to compliment Danny Rohl, with Barry Bannan previously claiming he was the best manager he had worked with in his career.
The German has brought so much excitement back into Sheffield Wednesday’s football and that was clear right from the start, even if it did take a while for results to pick up.
With a win and a draw under their belt, the Owls should feel very confident heading into today’s tie.
A victory at the bet365 Stadium could see Sheffield Wednesday move within seven points of safety – a gap that looks a lot less frightening than in previous weeks.
