Sheffield Wednesday face Stockport County in the Carabao Cup first round this evening and we’ve taken a look at a predicted team.
The Owls were beaten by Southampton on Friday night in their curtain-raiser; with tonight’s opponents losing on home soil to Gillingham.

In truth, County arrive at Hillsborough with nothing to lose and they will fancy their chances against a Wednesday side in transition.
The game does present a good opportunity to Xisco Munoz, however. He will see tonight’s game against lower league opposition as one to have a good go in.
Ahead of tonight’s clash, we’ve looked at how the manager could line up his team to face Stockport on home soil.

Predicted Sheffield Wednesday XI v Stockport County
The Wednesday rearguard
We fancy that Munoz will once again go with the 4-2-3-1 that was on show on Friday night.
It could, however, open the door for a host of changes defensively.
Cameron Dawson will probably still get the nod to play in goal, with Devis Vasquez still getting to grips with his new surroundings.
The back four could change completely, however, with Bambo Diaby and Di’Shon Bernard both getting a run as the centre-backs.
At full-back, Liam Palmer could come in at right-back to captain the team; with Reece James likely to come in at left-back.
The Wednesday engine room
Again, it’s quite a tricky one to predict as it’s impossible to judge how Munoz will feel about this game.
Both midfielder players did okay on Friday night so Will Vaulks and Tyrese Bakinson could keep their places in the team.
Leading the Wednesday line
George Byers should be in contention to return this evening after he was spotted in training with the rest of the squad.
He could play as the number 10, with Barry Bannan earning a rest ahead of some extremely tough games to come in the Championship.

On the flanks, we think Anthony Musaba, called ‘very good’ by Munoz, will play on the right to make his full debut, with Josh Windass keeping his place on the left.
Ashley Fletcher could be tasked with spearheading the attack as he tries to get off the mark in a Wednesday shirt.
Here is how the Sheffield Wednesday team could look this evening:
