Sheffield Wednesday could soon have seven players with a senior international cap to their name.
Sheffield Wednesday have enjoyed a great end to the 2023/24 campaign, while some of their players have had plenty to cheer about on the international stage too.
Di’Shon Bernard made his debut for Jamaica a month before joining the Owls and has since racked up 13 caps.
He made three starts in the CONCACAF Nations League finals and helped his country secure a place in this year’s Copa America.
Meanwhile, Joey Phuthi made his debut for Zimbabwe in March, despite only making one appearance for Wednesday.
The pair are the only two Owls who are currently playing for their international team though, while Barry Bannan, Will Vaulks, Callum Paterson and Liam Palmer have all played for their respective countries in the past.

However, Phuthi and Bernard could now be joined by Pierce Charles, who has been included in Northern Ireland’s most recent squad for their upcoming friendlies.
Michael O’Neill’s side will face Spain and Andorra next month, where the 18-year-old will be hoping to earn his first cap.
Charles joins former Owls loanee Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Plymouth’s Conor Hazard in the squad.
Charles has enjoyed a brilliant few days, having extended his contract at Hillsborough over the weekend.
Danny Rohl previously admitted how desperate he was for the club to keep hold of the teenager, and he got his wish.
What happens to Pierce Charles now?
His commitment to Wednesday suggests he could perhaps be given more of a role within the senior squad, with James Beadle having returned to Brighton.
Charles only has two senior appearances to his name though so it seems unlikely that he will be ready to make any major steps yet, but he will be hoping to earn himself a place on the bench next term.
Cameron Dawson has been offered a new contract by Wednesday though, which is quite surprising after he fell down the pecking order.
This could just be because of the lack of goalkeepers at the club, but with the Yorkshire outfit eager to bring Beadle back and Charles extending his stay, it would be surprising if he accepted continuing his role as a back-up.
If Dawson will take his place on the bench or even in between the sticks, then perhaps Charles could be sent out on loan instead.
The youngster is yet to taste senior football and could really do with some more experience if he is going to meet expectations in years to come.
