It’s recently been claimed that Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has held talks with a consortium regarding a possible sale of the club.
Sheffield Wednesday fans’ anger towards owner Chansiri has reached an all-time high this season.
Following a chaotic summer, the Owls are now on a path straight back to League One and the loyal Sheffield Wednesday fans have received numerous outbursts from Chansiri, who even asked them to pay a £2million HMRC bill.
Amid the fury, a section of fans have set up The 1867 Group, which is ‘an independent fan group created for bringing an end to the current ownership of Sheffield Wednesday’.
And The 1867 Group claimed yesterday that Chansiri had recently flown to the UK to hold talks with a consortium over a possible sale of Sheffield Wednesday, but that Chansiri is refusing to budge.
It’s said that the consortium, which remains unknown, provided necessary proof of funding, but that Chansiri ‘has not been acting in good faith’, failing to respond to ‘requests for information’ from the consortium.
And the reveal was met with plenty of speculation that Adam Shaw had provided The 1867 Group with said information about the apparent takeover talks, but they say that this is not the case.
Adam Shaw in summer talks with Sheffield Wednesday
US-based businessman and Sheffield Wednesday fan Shaw confirmed in the summer that he and his party had held talks with Sheffield Wednesday and representatives of Chansiri’s.

Obviously, nothing came of Shaw’s previous interest and Chansiri remains the owner.
Though it seems like there could well be change in the air with interest in the club; Chansiri though, for the time being, is not moving on his position, despite previously stating that he would sell the club if the fans wanted him to and if it meant the club moving forward.
Who could the consortium be?
It’s anyone’s guess right now.
Shaw seems like an educated guess but, as per The 1867 Group, the information on the consortium talks hasn’t come from him.
But whether that rules out the idea that he is the man in talks remains to be seen; the information regarding said talks just hasn’t come from him or his party.
He’s someone who’s already spoke with Chansiri and The 1867 Group’s statement where it writes ‘ongoing negotiations’ possibly hint at Shaw, or anyone else who’s been in talks with the Owls owner before.
The fans are certainly keen for a takeover to go through and new owners to come into place. But Chansiri remains the owner and right now, it doesn’t seem like he’s too interested in selling.
