Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has slammed Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri, saying his ‘unprofessional’ behaviour is ‘insulting’ to Wednesday fans.
Chansiri has been under fire from Wednesday fans this week after asking 20,000 fans to donate £100 each to pay off the club’s outstanding HMRC bill that amounted to £2 million.
Wednesday have since put out a statement, from Chansiri, saying that the club have paid the bill, along with players and staff wages.

Maguire was speaking to the Sheffield Star, and spoke of his displeasure with Chansiri’s running of the club.
‘It’s unprofessional and insulting to the fans, because it’s Chansiri who signed off on the contracts that put Wednesday where they are today. The fans didn’t sell Hillsborough to another company. Chansiri seems to have had a complete desertion of his responsibilities.
“We always say owners should see themselves as custodians. If you’re a Wednesday fan you fell in love with the club when you were six or seven and you’ve got a lifelong contract with that club. That’s the way we see ourselves as football fans. If Chansiri had any understanding of what it means to be a football fan he would not be behaving in the way he is.”
Chansiri needs to go
Chansiri has not been a good owner of Wednesday at all.
The claim for Wednesday fans to donate was absolutely scandalous.
It has also now been said that Chansiri has headed back to his home nation of Thailand to ‘lay low’ after all the controversy.
Hopefully Wednesday will have a new owner sooner rather than later.
