Sheffield Wednesday fans are waiting in anticipation for Danny Rohl’s first full season in charge.
The German coach didn’t join until October last year and supporters quickly started to see the little changes he was making, until he eventually became a hero when he kept them up.
Sheffield Wednesday now have the pleasure of being guided by Rohl into a full preseason, as well as bringing in even more talent to their ranks.
The Owls will hope last season’s crop can show even further improvement, while their nine signings will add healthy competition and squad depth.
One player who showed gradual improvement in his first campaign at Hillsborough was Anthony Musaba.
The Dutchman finished with 13 goal contributions in all competitions, but looked much more comfortable and confident in the latter stages of the season.
Musaba now has even further competition for his place with the additions of Olaf Kobacki and Jamal Lowe, however pundit Justin Peach believes he can now take it up a notch and become a ‘key’ player.
Anthony Musaba is a ‘pickle’ in a ‘cheese sandwich attack’
Speaking on the Second Tier podcast, Peach said: “I think there’s an element of unknown at Sheffield Wednesday this coming season, which is kind of strange, because obviously Rohl’s taken charge of his first full preseason. They have recruited extensively and things may change, things may be adapted. So I think it was hard to pick.
“But the reason why I picked out Musaba is because he was a bright spark, even in the worst of times for Wednesday last year. He scored seven and assisted five, which isn’t an incredible return by any means, but I think in a team that was built with hard working players, he had a bit of zest about him. He had a lot of quality dribbling wise in what was a very, you know, it was just… a cheese sandwich attack. But he was a bit of pickle. I don’t do sandwiches very often, but cheese and pickle is better than just cheese, right?
“So you know, he was a lot better, he brought something else to the table. I think under Rohl for another year, I think he can be a key man to step up and become a solidified, bona fide regular starter, rather than a player who starts a handful of games then is on the bench for a handful of games.”

Musaba scored some vital goals for Wednesday last term, netting a last-minute winner against QPR and also the only goal of the game against Stoke City a week earlier.
The 23-year-old has settled into his first season in the Championship nicely, but it was very clear at the end of the campaign that there is a lot more to come from him.
Rohl has shown he is brilliant at getting the very best out of players who are yet to find their potential and Musaba is likely one that will show just how far the German has taken him during preseason once the Championship kicks off.
The winger will surely start in their opener against Plymouth, and if he can pick up where he left off, he shouldn’t have to be worried about the attackers in line behind him.
