Sheffield Wednesday lost 1-0 to Watford yesterday but in Dominic Iorfa they had a man who produced a top performance. The Owls fell to a late winner at Vicarage Road, although they did provide some promising signs.
It’s now nine defeats from 12 games this season for Wednesday. This latest setback leaves Rohl’s team on three points and they still await their maiden victory of the campaign.

Iorfa was handed a start by Danny Rohl in his first game in club management. The promotion-winner didn’t disappoint and his manager would have been delighted with his showing.
Wednesday star Iorfa steals the show with a classy display
The 28-year-old lined up at centre-back alongside Bambo Diaby for this game and he produced a masterclass in defending. It was the player’s seventh start of the season and he will hope to keep his place moving forward.
It was Sofa Score that provided the evidence of Iorfa being a class above yesterday. They showcased that he made four tackles, four interceptions and perhaps more impressively won 100% of the duels he contested.
Iorfa was an integral part of the Wednesday team last season as they won promotion from League One. This season he’s not always been the first choice but this performance will have showcased his class to Rohl.
Uncompromising Iorfa can star at Hillsborough
Rohl can win a lot of friends by playing many of the players who won promotion last season. A lot of the summer signings simply haven’t made the grade and the promotion winners are perhaps the best idea right now.

Iorfa is a quality defender. According to the song that Wednesday fans sing about him, he’s the ‘fastest man in Yorkshire’ and the pace he possesses is clearly a strong attribute.
Rohl will have learned a little bit about his team yesterday. One thing he will have established is that Iorfa has the ability to be a mainstay in his team as he strives to get the Owls a first win of the season.
