Sheffield Wednesday attacker Josh Windass has explained what new manager Danny Rohl did on the first day of work at Hillsborough. The German boss has replaced Xisco Munoz in the S6 hot seat.
Windass has missed the last three matches through injury. Now, he’s fit and firing, however, ready to face Watford this weekend should Rohl name him in his first starting eleven.
The 29-year-old will go down as a modern-day hero at Hillsborough. He scored the last-gasp goal that saw Wednesday win promotion to the Championship last season and that won’t be forgotten.
Windass explains what Rohl did on first day at Wednesday
It’s early days and a ball hasn’t been kicked in the Rohl era just yet but the early signs are pretty good. At least in terms of Rohl saying and doing the right things anyway.
Windass has been quizzed on how he’s found training since he arrived. He delivered some comments about what Rohl had said to his new Wednesday players on the very first day.
The Owls forward told the club’s official website: “A very good first few days, very intense, very tough. On the manager’s first day, he showed us a presentation of what he wanted us to do and how he wanted us to do things.
“On the first day, he told us his core principles and what is not negotiable. I really hope we can translate all the work into performances.”
Wednesday must kick on under Rohl
It’s time for Wednesday to stop talking the talk and ultimately the team needs points on the board. For the Owls, it’s imperative that between now and the November international break they pick up plenty of points.
Windass will be important to Wednesday and to their fortunes this season. He possesses match-winning quality and that could prove invaluable to Rohl in the coming weeks.
It sounds very positive that the players have bought into what the new boss wants to do already. Now, the challenge for Wednesday – and for Windass – is to put that into practice out on the pitch.
