Sheffield Wednesday defender Dominic Iorfa has dismissed any notion that he’s ready to leave Hillsborough this summer. The player was a key part of the club’s promotion to the Championship last season but was linked with Preston in the summer.

The man who is labelled the fastest man in Yorkshire by the Owls fan base is more than happy in South Yorkshire, He’s now in his sixth season with Wednesday and Iorfa is keen to stick around for a while longer.

Wednesday are desperately in need of a positive result at Cardiff this weekend. They have lost all three of their opening games in the Championship and Xisco Munoz is in danger of seeing the Owls become rooted to the foot of the table.

Iorfa has been speaking ahead of this weekend’s game. He’s got zero interest in discussing any move away from Wednesday and is now looking forward to getting the team back on the straight and narrow.

He told The Star: “There were a few things said over the summer, but nothing that I really paid attention to. You get all sorts, especially during the transfer window, and we’ve had it before…For me, though, I wasn’t really thinking about any of it.

“I’ve been here a while. This is my sixth season now and I’d like to think that I’m settled here. I know the club really well, and it’s all about focusing on the job at hand for me now.

“Whatever happens in the future happens, but I’m here. I’m trying to give my best, and give 100%. I’m really settled in the city, I’m happy in Sheffield.”

Wednesday defender Iorfa doesn’t want to leave this summer

Dinamo Zagreb was another option for the defender in the summer. They did enter the Champions League qualifying rounds but they have now been knocked out of the competition.

Iorfa is now close to 150 appearances for the Owls. He has been able to hold down a regular place in the Wednesday team this season and Munoz clearly rates him highly.

Now, the remit is clear for Wednesday. They have to start picking up points and climbing the Championship table before it’s too late!
