Report suggests Sheffield Wednesday face stern competition in race to sign Aidan Fitzpatrick

The Daily Record claimed last week that Sheffield Wednesday ‘top(ped) the list of clubs’ interested in signing Aidan Fitzpatrick this month.

But according to a different newspaper, the Daily Express, it is Norwich City now leading the race, after tabling a bid worth up to £400,000 for the Partick Thistle winger.

And the Express claims it is not only Norwich who are keen on Fitzpatrick, with Rangers ready to sanction a move ‘after receiving positive scouting reports’.

The 17-year-old has scored three goals in 14 games for Partick this season – his first at senior level.

Though their financial problems are well-documented, it has been suggested that Sheffield Wednesday may have funds to spend in the January transfer window.

But it remains to be seen whether the Owls would choose to spend what money they do have available on someone unlikely to make an instant impact at first-team level.
