According to a report in The Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing free agent winger Andre Green.

The Owls have previously been linked with a move for Green after he was released by Aston Villa in the summer, but for one reason or another, Green hasn’t been able to find a club.

The report details that Green wanted to bide his time and make sure he was making the right choice before finding a new club, and it seems as though he’s finally prepared to get back playing.

The winger is undoubtedly a talented player, appearing for England at numerous youth levels, and Wednesday will be hoping that he can realise his potential at Hillsborough.

The report also features interviews with numerous figures close to Green, including his former manager Tim Sherwood, who gave him a glowing review.

“He’s got ridiculous pace and goes past people like Ronaldo used to. It’s as if they’re not there,” Sherwood said.

Being compared to Ronaldo, be it Cristiano or the Brazilian, is one of the biggest compliments any player can receive, and if he plays like that for Wednesday, he will quickly become a fan favourite.

Unfortunately, the Owls aren’t the only Championship club in the race to sign the winger.

Indeed, Brentford and Luton have also been credited with an interest, so it may be an uphill battle for Dejphon Chansiri to secure his signature this month.

Fingers crossed Wednesday can get this one over the line as Green sounds like a very exciting player.
