Pol Valentin has made a promise to Sheffield Wednesday fans ahead of their final 12 games of the season.
Sheffield Wednesday have endured a rollercoaster of a campaign so far, having previously looked like they would rescue their Championship status with some excellent form in December.
The Owls picked up five wins in eight games to help drag them towards safety, however a winless run of four games plunged their future into doubt once again.
Danny Rohl‘s side seem to be enjoying a second wind now though, taking nine points and two clean sheets form their last four outings.
Ike Ugbo has been the star of the show in the last few weeks, but it is Pol Valentin who has also become an unlikely hero.
The defender struggled to make an impact early on after arriving at Hillsborough from Sporting Gijon, however he was settled in now and has established himself as one of the first names on the team-sheet.
Journalist Alex Miller has already claimed Valentin is ‘fast becoming a fan favourite’ and the Spaniard certainly seems to be enjoying his football in England now.
After a hard-fought win over Bristol City at the weekend, Valentin took to Instagram to react and make a promise to the supporters.
Alongside some action shots at Hillsborough, Valentin wrote: “We believe in each other and this team will fight until the end!”

Sheffield Wednesday looked to have accepted defeat and were resigned to relegation before Danny Rohl arrived at the club – and that was only a matter of months into the season.
The team had a lot of work to do and expectations placed upon them were significantly higher than during Xisco Munoz‘s tenure. However, while Rohl’s ideas and tactics were great, the players needed to work hard and be won over by what he was planning for it to get anywhere.
Those players are now reaping their rewards for the dedication and commitment they have put in since October, even if there has been some hiccups along the way.
The likes of Pol Valentin, Michael Ihiekwe and Marvin Johnson have become key players in their revival – those players you perhaps wouldn’t expect to be driving the club onto retaining their position in the second tier.
There is still 12 games to go though and Sheffield Wednesday need to keep this form up if they are to stay up, because a dip in form like last month isn’t going to be enough.
A big win over relegation candidates Rotherham United will go far this weekend and could potentially leave them level on points with 21st place, while they could be a whopping 16 points above The Millers.
