Plymouth Argyle have suffered an injury scare to one of their key players ahead of their trip to Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow night.

Sheffield Wednesday are set to host Plymouth Argyle off the back of their narrow win over Rotherham United at the weekend.

The Owls now have four wins in their last five games, picking up three clean sheets in the process.

Results didn’t go their way over the weekend and they still find themselves three points from safety, however a win tomorrow could potentially put them level on points with Stoke, Huddersfield, Birmingham and QPR.

Sheffield Wednesday will need Ike Ugbo at his best again, after the striker netted six goals in his last five games.

The Pilgrims have also been relying on their own star striker this season, with Ryan Hardie bagging 13 goals and four assists in all competitions. The 26-year-old has only scored once in the last five games, but did score against Sheffield Wednesday in the reverse fixture back in October.

Hardie has been an important figure for Plymouth this term, however he could now be a doubt for tomorrow’s game at Hillsborough.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Plymouth boss Ian Foster said: “Everyone is fine.

“Everyone has come through the game. A few bumps and bruises as you would expect from a tough encounter but we are okay, we are healthy… They were in yesterday but it was a recovery session so we will get a decent assessment of Ryan Hardie today in terms of our tactical work on the grass and see how he is. I think it was just a heavy knock but it was quite painful for him.”

Who should Sheffield Wednesday be wary of?

If Ryan Hardie can’t start against Sheffield Wednesday then it will be a big loss for the visitors, with the forward scoring three goals in their last five games on the road.

However, the Owls will still have to handle Morgan Whittaker, who is currently the joint-second top goalscorer in the Championship with 17 goals and seven assists.

The 23-year-old has an impressive nine goals in his last 14 games in the second tier, though is without a goal in his last four.

Sheffield Wednesday have performed brilliantly in defence in recent weeks though and will be very confident they can shut him out, while the likes of Ike Ugbo and Ian Poveda need to work their magic at the other end of the pitch if the team are to claim another vital win.
