Danny Rohl has revealed what he told Sheffield Wednesday at half-time during their win over Rotherham United.
Sheffield Wednesday looked on course to scoop up their third clean sheet in five games at half-time at the New York Stadium, however that wasn’t going to be enough in their race for survival.
The Owls came out fighting in the second half and it was thanks to a coolly taken goal from Ike Ugbo that they returned home with all three points.
It was another solid display from Sheffield Wednesday, who had to put a shift in to break Rotherham down in the Yorkshire derby.
Danny Rohl has now explained what he told his players at half-time to cause them to take it up a notch.
“At half time it was a clear message,” Rohl told The Star. “It was great what we were doing, but don’t just think that you’ll get the next chance and the next chance. You have to score the next one.

“I had the feeling I wanted to win this one, because a draw was not enough… That’s why I changed the shape, I wanted a bit of freedom in the red zone so to score immediately and then we changed back to a back five.
“Our defending at the moment is really great to see. It’s key, and we had a balance between playing nice football and creating chances and doing the important things.”
How brilliant is Danny Rohl?
Danny Rohl’s positivity and risk-taking is a breath of fresh air for Sheffield Wednesday.
While Rotherham are bottom of the Championship, it was always going to be a difficult game against a team who would have been desperate to ruin our good streak.
But Rohl was still determined to get the win and made the necessary changes to do so, while he has instilled this sense of optimism around the team, where the players now know they are capable of winning games rather than shying away.
It is his determination, tactics and attitude that can drive Sheffield Wednesday to safety, and it certainly helps that all the players love him too.
