Sheffield Wednesday haven’t yet finalised a deal to bring Danny Rohl to the club. The German manager is the leading candidate to replace Xisco Munoz but it’s not complete just yet.
Rohl has never managed a team but Wednesday are keen to give him an opportunity at Hillsborough. Now, The Star journalist Joe Crann has delivered an update.
The 34-year-old has been out of work since last month. He was working as the assistant manager of the German national team alongside Hansi Flick but was sacked after a poor run of form.
Crann delivers update on Wednesday pursuit of Rohl
Given that the international break is now upon us, this does look like a decent time for Wednesday to be chasing a new manager. However, they won’t want it to drag on much longer.
Crann has now delivered an update on Twitter. He has claimed: “With regards to #SWFC and the new manager, these things can take a bit of time and there are lots of moving parts, also plenty of discussions to be had.
“I know there has been talk of it being done, but as of this morning, Danny Rohl to S6 isn’t finalised. Patience needed.”
Rohl could be ideal for Hillsborough gig
The youngster is highly respected as a coach and he will surely welcome the chance to take charge himself. Talks will progress and hopefully, something can get over the line.
Rohl does have experience in England. He worked as an assistant manager to Ralph Hassenhuttl at Southampton, spending a single season with the Austrian head coach.
Wednesday will want someone with a modern-day mindset and Rohl fits that criteria. The fact he’s not worked in management before makes him a risk but there would at least be some method to the madness.
