Sheffield Wednesday drew 1-1 with Coventry City in the FA Cup fourth round last night, in another solid showing for the Owls.
Last night saw Coventry City visit Hillsborough for a second time in as many weeks.
It was another tough encounter for the Owls who narrowly lost against the Sky Blues in the Championship last week, but a Djeidi Gassama goal in the second half last night earned Sheffield Wednesday a replay.
Danny Rohl‘s side dominated the game for large spells and despite failing to test the opposition goalkeeper too much, they looked confident against top six hopefuls Coventry.
And there were some impressive individual performances on the night as well.
Josh Windass hails ‘outstanding’ Sheffield Wednesday duo
Two players who impressed last night were goalkeeper Pierce Charles and Gassama.
The 19-year-old Charles made his first-team debut after injury ruled Cameron Dawson out of last night’s game, and Charles impressed.
He looked steady in goal and produced a huge stop in second half injury time to keep the score level.
And Gassama was electric; in what was his sixth consecutive start for Sheffield Wednesday, the Frenchman looked dangerous throughout and thoroughly deserved his well-taken goal in the second half.

Young Owls flourishing under Danny Rohl
Upon his arrival as manager earlier in the season, Rohl constantly spoke about bridging the gap between the youth and the first-team and ushering in the next generation of young Sheffield Wednesday stars.
And he’s done that, but he’s also done so effectively, uncovering new stars in the likes of Bailey Cadamarteri whilst also helping the likes of Gassama and Anthony Musaba to really develop.
Charles looks like the next youngster who could make an impression under the new boss, though it might not be until next season where Charles really starts to make an impact on the first-team; Windass’ praise though sums up a strong debut for the Northern Irishman.
But the constant flow of youth players into the first-team in cup games like this is giving Rohl more trust in the club’s youth academy, with Gui Siqueira also making another appearance last night.
Although there’s a tough road ahead in the league, Sheffield Wednesday are certainly laying down some exciting building blocks for future years.
