Sheffield Wednesday did not see a lot of players depart the club following their promotion to the Championship last season.
However, the club did see the back of six first-team players, including a few regulars from the last few seasons, and one that is now attracting heavy interest from some of Europe’s elite.

6 – Dennis Adeniran
Dennis Adeniran had spent the last two seasons at Wednesday after joining from Everton, going on to score seven goals in 51 games for the Owls.
He then left in the summer in a surprise move to join Portimonense in the top flight of Portugal.
After an injury-hit start, he has only made one appearance so far, making a five-minute cameo in a 6-1 defeat to Braga.
5 – David Stockdale
David Stockdale only spent a year at Wednesday, but he made a big impact. He kept 11 clean sheets in 24 games in League One last season, playing an important role in the Owls’ promotion.
He made the move back to York City following the expiry of his contract, the club he first started out at as a youngster. In what was a different move, he joined not only as a player but as the club’s head of recruitment.
So far this season he has made four appearances, as he appears to be the backup goalkeeper.
4 – Jaden Brown
Jaden Brown was also released by Wednesday, ending his two-year association with the club.
He joined from Huddersfield Town in 2021 and went on to score two goals in 32 appearances for Wednesday.
He managed to stay in League One, joining Lincoln City. The 24-year-old has so far made eight appearances, with the Imps sat in tenth in the third tier.
3 – Ben Heneghan
It took Ben Heneghan a lot longer than he probably would have liked to find another club after his release from Wednesday.
It took him until the end of September when he eventually joined League One side Fleetwood Town.
Since his arrival, he has made eight appearances, with the club currently in the relegation zone. He made 13 appearances for Wednesday last season, in his one and only year at the club.
2 – Jack Hunt
Jack Hunt was an ever-present for Wednesday over the last two years, making 72 appearances. He was surprisingly released at the end of last season.
He then made the move to Bristol Rovers in League One and has shown his quality in being one of the Gas’ best players.
He has two goals and two assists in eight games so far this season, scoring the same amount of goals already this season as he did in his two years with Wednesday. What Wednesday would do to have him now in his current form.
1 – Fisayo Dele-Bashiru
Finally, in what might come as a surprise to some Wednesday fans, is Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
After rejecting a new deal, he made the move abroad to join Hatayspor in the Turkish top flight.
The 22-year-old currently has four goals and two assists in eleven games in the Super Lig, with his side ninth in the table.
His form has reportedly gained interest from the likes of Napoli and Fenerbahce.
He may look like a player that Wednesday will regret not trying harder to keep hold of.
