Sheffield Wednesday fans have now been handed some major insight into the future of manager Danny Rohl.
Rohl is adored by Sheffield Wednesday fans after securing the club’s Championship status for another year, following the 2-0 win at Sunderland last time out.
The English Football League’s youngest manager has achieved nothing short of a miracle in his first job in management with Sheffield Wednesday 13 points adrift at one stage, but finishing the season in 20th and three points above the drop zone.
There’s fears that Rohl may well leave this summer with Sunderland among the teams linked. But The Star are now reporting that Rohl and owner Dejphon Chansiri have now held positive initial talks regarding Rohl’s future at the club.
Rohl was widely reported to be under contract at Hillsborough until the end of the 2024/25 season when he took charge, though there’s never been official confirmation.

Danny Rohl wants three things from Dejphon Chansiri at Sheffield Wednesday
Throughout the season, Rohl has given the same message with regards to his future.
He echoed that same message after the Sunderland win, saying: “I think I said this before in some interviews. What is important that we have a direction. I think I have idea how this direction could be like. But just to have a idea it’s of course not enough… We know this club has a high potential when you see what it means for the people in the city.”
The ball then has been in Chansiri’s court all along. Rohl previously hinted that he wants changes to certain facilities at the club and now The Star say that Rohl wants some improvements to the club’s Middlewood training ground, another addition to his backroom team, and then some guarantees over the upcoming summer transfer window.

The one thing that Danny Rohl might get from Chansiri at Sheffield Wednesday
Chansiri surely knows that this summer is his biggest at the club so far, and his biggest chance of redemption among supporters.
Fans just want to see Rohl happy and content at the club and for that to happen, Rohl needs to be given the resources and facilities needed to get Sheffield Wednesday into a position where they can realistically challenge for promotion.
But whether or not Chansiri has the money to do so remains to be seen. Likewise, whether or not he has the money is irrelevant; he simply must find it from somewhere or run the risk of losing Rohl.
Improvements to the training ground may be the difficult thing to obtain though. The cost of which could snowball and become a real financial burden, whereas player signings may be more of a guarantee, as Chansiri will know he could potentially sell some players in a year’s time and make back the money.
Another addition to the already-large backroom team seems plausible, too.
Rohl will know that he won’t get the world at Hillsborough, at least not this summer, so patience is required from his end too.
But positive talks between Chansiri and Rohl is certainly the first step in rebuilding the future of Sheffield Wednesday.
