Sheffield Wednesday are set to have a new transfer policy under the management of Danny Rohl.
The German has changed a lot since his arrival last month, and one of those is set to be the way he deals with young players.
According to the Sheffield Star, more young players are set to be loaned out, with it being ‘understood’ that ‘further activity with regard to youth players is possible’.
This comes after the confirmation of Jay Glover’s short-term loan to Spennymoor Town in the National League North, and goalkeeper Luke Jackson’s loan at Gainsborough Trinity being extended until mid-January.
Boss has previously spoken on his ideas
Speaking to the Sheffield Star last month, Rohl spoke of his desire to keep an eye on the under-21s, and to have a good relationship with them.
“It’s important that we have a good relationship with the U21s.
“We will have a talk every week so that I have a good overview over who we can bring into the team, and maybe have some training sessions together… It’s about the process, and how I can get a feeling for a lot of players.”
Rohl’s change in policy should be beneficial
Under previous manager Xisco Munoz, younger players would not be loaned out as he wanted them to focus on their development at the club.
But under Danny Rohl that seems to have changed, and it could benefit some of the younger players massively.
They could benefit a lot from gaining experience of senior football, which is a lot different to youth football which they would be used to playing.
One key aspect will be the physicality, especially in the lower leagues where you are less likely to see the intricate passing game you may see in the Premier League or the Championship.
