Sheffield Wednesday have received high praise for signing one of the best players in his position in the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday have made nine signings in the month that the transfer window has been opened, snapping up two goalkeepers, two defenders, two midfielders and three attackers.
They have heavily relied on free transfers so far, but have managed to bring in some real quality compared to previous seasons.
One transfer caught the eye of many fans across the EFL, with the Owls snapping up Max Lowe after he was released by rivals Sheffield United.
The controversy of the move doesn’t overshadow how good of a signing it is though, with pundit Justin Peach naming his move to Hillsborough as one of the best transfers of the summer.

Sheffield Wednesday ace is one of the best ‘when he’s fit’
Speaking on the Second Tier podcast, Peach said: “He’s a player I rate so highly, and when he’s fit, he’s so bloody good. In fact, I know he’s had his injury issues, but when he’s fully fit, I don’t think there’s a better full-back – defensive-minded full-back – in the Championship. And when you consider that Chris Powell is on the coaching staff, as great a left-back as he was, he knows what he’s going to be working with… and I think that’s going to pay dividends for Max Lowe.
“Yeah, I think these deals that Wednesday have done… they haven’t been breaking the bank or they haven’t been getting me out of my seat, but I’ve just been looking from afar going, these are very tidy signings. These are going to do Wednesday really well.
“But the one that really stood out for me was Max, because I think he’s going to give them so much balance. Then you consider the fact they’ve got Marvin Johnson as a back-up full-back or back-up wing-back, there’s good depth there. This Wednesday squad is looking very nice.”
Max Lowe needs to improve on his Sheff Utd form
Lowe made only four starts in the Premier League last season, but was much more present in their squad before winning promotion.
The defender picked up six goal contributions in 26 matches in the Championship and could well be thrown into the Wednesday team to play a similar role further up the pitch.
United fans criticised the 27-year-old during his time in the top flight, however if anyone is going to get the best out of him it is Danny Rohl.
The German has succeeded in getting the best out of players such as Pol Valentin and Michael Ihiekwe, and fans will be hopeful they can see Lowe make a real positive impact in the blue and white side of Sheffield.
