Danny Rohl is confident that he will be able to bring two new faces into Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.
Speaking to The Star, the manager admitted he is ‘hoping’ to welcome two new additions ‘today or tomorrow’.
Danny Rohl was appointed Sheffield Wednesday manager last month and has been quick to bring in his own staff as he looks to retain the Owls’ Championship status.
Chris Powell recently arrived after spending time with Tottenham Hotspur’s academy, as well as managing the likes of Charlton Athletic, Huddersfield Town and Southend United.
Henrik Pedersen has also been appointed as Rohl’s second assistant coach, while former Manchester United sports psychologist Sascha Lense joins as Sheffield Wednesday’s new performance manager.
Rohl has gradually been building his own team around him, but was hoping to have already brought a set piece coach and goalkeeping coach on board at S6. The German had his sights set on potential appointments, while Nico Knaubel – formerly of RB Leipzig – was unable to obtain a work permit.
Rohl has now admitted that he is hoping to add some fresh faces to his staff in the next couple of days.
“I hope we will find a solution today or tomorrow for this,” he told The Star.
“But I’m really happy with my staff here, and that’s important. I have Chris, Henrik, Sascha and also Neil (Thompson) – and we have a good setup now. We’ll look to see how we can improve it in some parts of the games also.
“At the the moment Chris is taking the set pieces – he’s very strong in this part – and he has support from Neil. This is also an option for the next weeks and months, to take both of them to improve the set pieces. They’ve done a good job so far, and you could see that against Rotherham. It gives me a good feeling.”
A fresh start at S6
Danny Rohl is a very young manager and is looking to completely transform the club with his own appointments, while Sheffield Wednesday will just be really hoping it pays off.
With Dejphon Chansiri now paying off his debts and the Owls’ embargo being lifted, Rohl will be hoping for a smooth ride now after picking up his first win as manager.
The coming weeks are very important for the 34-year-old, and if he can claim back-to-back wins and get that ‘feel good’ atmosphere back at Hillsborough then perhaps the ‘impossible’ will seem a lot more possible.
