Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has spoken about something which he found amazing last weekend. He oversaw a first win in 14 Championship matches as the Owls beat Rotherham United 2-0.
Rohl has been in charge at Hillsborough for three games. It’s his first management gig and he’s been handed a tough challenge to steer Wednesday to safety.
The German saw his side work tirelessly against the Millers last weekend. Rotherham were blown away inside the first half, with the Owls leading 2-0 at the break after a Michael Smith double.
Rohl buzzing with Wednesday reception
Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Bristol City, Rohl has been quizzed on last weekend. The Owls fan sang his name to the tune of ‘Daddy Cool’ after the game and he’s impressing the supporters already.
Rohl told the Sheffield Wednesday media team: “It was amazing, after the match, in my heart, I had the feeling I was in the right place.”
Wednesday still have work to do in their battle against relegation. In Rohl, however, they have a manager who isn’t fazed by the monumental challenge and he’s ready to get stuck in.
Wednesday can thrive under new manager
The club will have to be patient with Rohl but the club have played better in three games under the German than they did in nine under Xisco Munoz.
Wednesday look like a team that has been given a new lease of life. Admittedly, the Owls couldn’t really get any worse but there is a real togetherness about the place again now.
Rohl has come to the club desperate to prove himself as a manager. That might be a dangerous thing in the good sense and hopefully, Wednesday can win more games in the near future.
