Danny Rohl has made a promise to Sheffield Wednesday fans ahead of the busy festive period.
The German arrived at Hillsborough with the Owls seven points adrift at the bottom of the Championship. While they now sit nine points from safety, things are starting to look a lot more positive.
Danny Rohl has guided Sheffield Wednesday to their first four wins of the campaign – three of which have come in December.
The 34-year-old is preparing to lead the team through an intense second half of the campaign as they desperately look to claw their way up the table and avoid relegation.
Rohl is ready to ‘do everything’ to help Sheffield Wednesday and has hailed the ‘great’ supporters as a big contribution to his commitment to the club.
Speaking to The Star, Rohl said: “I have the feeling that our fans are behind us, the stadium is behind us.
“I’ll do everything to help this club and my players… If we have this support then it’s great to have this feeling from the fans.
“It’s also about the output from my players, though, they’re always in the game. They have to do the right things, and I’ll try and help them – always I speak about having a good match planning, having the energy from them, and then at the end to deserve something we need a bench to help. And this is what we’re doing…
“I hope the fans enjoy this time – a lot of good football and family time, good food and all the things you need for a good life. For us it’s all about making a good performance and making the fans happy.”
Can Sheffield Wednesday turn things around this Christmas?
Danny Rohl took only three matches to pick up his first win for Sheffield Wednesday, before a run of three successive defeats followed.
Sheffield Wednesday’s position in the Championship table definitely doesn’t reflect how successful the manager has been so far, with Rohl doing a brilliant job at lifting the spirits around Hillsborough.
The Owls have another six league matches to play over the next month and things could look very differently by then – if the team can keep up these performances.
Though their fixtures are far from a walk in the park. Matches against the likes of Preston, Hull City and Southampton promise to be tricky, though their previous display against Leicester City shows they are perfectly capable of grinding out some points.
Sheffield Wednesday need to be ready to work hard and play ugly to climb up that table and miraculously claim their spot in the second tier for next season.
