Danny Rohl has provided a promising injury update on Sheffield Wednesday defender Dominic Iorfa.
Dominic Iorfa had been an ever-present figure under Danny Rohl, having played every minute of every Championship game until he was forced off after only four minutes in the 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers in December.
The 28-year-old has since missed the previous 17 games in all competitions and has mainly been replaced at right-back by Pol Valentin, who had made only five starts prior.
While the Owls did go on a promising run around Christmas time, they have gone onto concede 18 goals in the eleven games since the turn of the year, though they have managed to pick up two clean sheets in the last three matches.
Sheffield Wednesday will be eager to see Iorfa return to the team though, especially given his versatility across the backline.
Danny Rohl has now provided an update on his injury and it is looking very promising, with the German revealing he could be back in action next week.
Speaking to The Star, Rohl said: “Dom is a fantastic player.
“For me he was key before his injury, he played as both a centre back and as a right full back – and he has pace and quality on the ball. I think he’s a great option for us.
“In the last games we’ve used Pol (Valentin), who has done well when we’ve tried it, but it’ll be good to have hopefully in the next week another player available. It’s another option, and with so many games it gives us an option to rotate. I’ll be happy when he’s back.
“I see in training every day that he’s not scared about his body, and that’s a good signal. Sometimes as a player you listen to your body, but he’s free and this is fantastic. He’s got all the movements, makes all the sprints, also he looks great long distance.
“It could be that he’ll play 45 minutes for the U21s next Tuesday, and after that he’ll be ready to go – but he had a test in the last days with a lot of load and there was no reaction from his body. Now we can make the next step and he can be available as soon as possible.”

Danny Rohl speaks of Dominic Iorfa very highly, so it would be a surprise if he wasn’t put straight back into the starting line-up once he is fully fit.
While results haven’t faltered too much without him, Sheffield Wednesday are still very shaky at the back and could really do with his presence to firm things up.
Sheffield Wednesday have a run of huge games coming up and having an experienced leader like Iorfa should really benefit them as they look to get stuck in and pick up some vital points.
