Danny Rohl has admitted that he was ‘really scared’ right at the start of Sheffield Wednesday’s clash with Blackburn Rovers.
Speaking to The Star after the game, the German revealed he was left very worried when Dominic Iorfa went down injured.
Dominic Iorfa has been a regular for Sheffield Wednesday following Danny Rohl’s arrival, playing every minute of every Championship game since he joined the club.
However, the defender only lasted minutes against Blackburn before he was forced off with an injury and was replaced by Liam Palmer.
Iorfa’s absence didn’t affect the scoreline in the end, as the Owls secured a 3-1 win to make it two games unbeaten for the first time since the League One play-off final.
However, Rohl did admit that his injury had ‘really scared’ him due to the cold weather.
“I had immediately in my mind after such a sprint after 10 seconds, in this temperature and an ‘English week’, that it could be tough,” he told The Star.
“When he went down I was really scared about the situation, but it was also a mental thing after – it’s not easy for a team after an injury in one minute be strong in the game.
“But Liam Palmer did well immediately, and then we scored, and I think this is the step up in the mentality area. We did that great.”

Liam Palmer went onto have a brilliant game, despite only playing 28 minutes of football under Danny Rohl.
The 32-year-old won four tackles, one clearance and one interception, as well as winning seven of his eight ground duels attempted.
Palmer was joined by Di’Shon Bernard in impressing from the back, with the centre-back picking up his second assist of the campaign.
Palmer will certainly give Rohl something to think about and there is no denying he can do a good job at the back if Dominic Iorfa is out for a while.
The display against Blackburn has given supporters a lot to get excited about and hopefully the busy festive period can see them close the ten-point gap between themselves and safety.
