Danny Rohl has provided an injury update ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s trip to Stoke City.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the German confirmed that Pol Valentin is ‘back’ in training.
Pol Valentin joined Sheffield Wednesday from Sporting Gijon in the summer but had struggled to kickstart his career in the Championship, playing only one minute of the first six matches of the campaign.
The defender eventually forced his way into the first team but had dropped back down to the bench before picking up an injury that has kept him out of action since the defeat to Bristol City.
Dominic Iorfa has been pushed out to right-back in Valentin’s absence over recent weeks, but it now looks like the Spaniard could be about to challenge for his place in the starting line-up once again.

Speaking to the media, Rohl said: “Pol Valentin is back as well.
“We will see if they can be available for the game, there is a big jump from training to the game.”
Can Pol Valentin get back in the team?
Pol Valentin will definitely added some much needed squad depth going into a very busy Christmas period, but it will surely take a lot for him to get back into the team.
The 26-year-old has hardly set the world alight since arriving at Hillsborough, and Sheffield Wednesday’s defence have actually been doing alright recently. The Owls have conceded two goals on two games, which is fairly impressive considering some of the horror shows they have put on this season.
Valentin surely won’t be expecting to get straight back in the team though and hopefully this can spur him and his teammates onto perform better as they challenge for their place.
With seven games coming up between now and new year, I think we can expect to see Rohl rotate the squad every now and then to keep things fresh – especially given how much he has demanded of this team since he arrived.
