Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has said that the situation surrounding Marvin Johnson is ‘clear’ and they ‘will see’ if he will play a part in the future.
The 32-year-old was frozen out under former manager Xisco Munoz, but with Rohl’s arrival, it has given Johnson a chance to come back into the fold.
He was not part of the 25-man squad list that was submitted to the EFL last month.
Johnson has failed to make an appearance for the first gels this season, but played 45 minutes for the under-21s earlier this week.
Rohl ‘will see’ on 32-year-old
Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Rohl said that Johnson getting 45 minutes of action was good for him.
“The situation with Marvin is very clear, we had a good talk, we spoke about the process to building up something and yesterday (involvement with the under-21s) was the right step.
“We spoke about getting minutes in a game. He got 45 minutes, his performance was good and this is the process we are now following with him.
“We will look at the data at how good he is in the games,” Röhl added.
“It’s not about the physical, being strong, you also need the performances in a game. This week was good, it was a good step. We will see again on Friday or Saturday how far he is or close he is to bring back into the squad.”
Johnson being back would be a boost
Having Johnson back would be a boost for the squad, as the Owls find themselves in a very tricky spot.
They have failed to win in 13 games in the Championship this season, and sit rock bottom of the table.
They will be looking to change their fortunes when they host fellow strugglers and Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United on Sunday afternoon.
