Sheffield Wednesday player Momo Diaby has endured an unfortunate start to his time at Hillsborough.

The summer signing from Portimonense got injured an hour into his debut in August and hasn’t played since.

Now, things could be looking up. He’s been spotted with the ball at his feet in training and Danny Rohl has delivered an update on his progress.

Diaby could be back soon

The Owls fans shouldn’t get too excited just yet. Diaby can’t play for Wednesday until January but he could soon feature for the under-21s.

Rohl has been quizzed on the midfielder. He’s been noticed in training and it appears things have stepped up.

He told the club’s media team on X: “It’s good to have Momo back on the pitch in training. It’s the first step, he cannot do everything at the moment. But he is in the process of coming back and he will need minutes in the Under-21s, then in the next few weeks he will be closer to the first team.”

Clock is ticking for Diaby to prove himself at Wednesday

The 27-year-old is only on loan at Wednesday and he will be gutted to have suffered this injury.

Diaby looked useful in his opening appearance and it’s so unfortunate that he’s injury has been so serious.

Given that his current deal at Wednesday is only temporary, he’s going to be desperate to get playing again.

Diaby will want to prove that he deserves to be kept on at Wednesday beyond this summer.

The Owls could do with another defensive option in the middle of the park and hopefully, Diaby can get a game for the under-21s soon.

If he does get back out on the pitch it can only boost the options available to Wednesday.

In their current plight Rohl will want as many players available as possible and hopefully Diaby can be playing again soon.
