Bibbo and Diaby… 3 things spotted in Sheffield Wednesday training this week

Sheffield Wednesday have been working hard on the training ground ahead of Saturday’s game with Birmingham City.

The Owls are in desperate need of a solid run of games following the international break.

Danny Rohl’s team are currently nine points adrift of safety and face a Birmingham side yet to win under Wayne Rooney on Saturday.

Things look to be on the right track behind the scenes and training appears extremely positive.

Following a video being uploaded of the Owls training on YouTube, we’ve looked at three things we’ve spotted.

Momo Diaby steps up his recovery in Wednesday training

Last month we saw how the summer signing was back on the grass being put through his paces on the fitness side of things.

Now, it would appear he’s back involved with training and has been doing some of the ball work.

Wednesday fans shouldn’t get excited just yet, however.

Now that Marvin Johnson has taken the 25th space in the squad, it means that Diaby can’t actually feature for the Owls until January at the earliest.

It’s great to see Diaby edging back to fitness, however. He was decent against Preston in August before injury struck and he’s more than capable.

New goalkeeper coach in at Wednesday

The Owls have a new goalkeeping coach at Middlewood Road. His name is Sal Bibbo and he comes with Arsenal on his CV.

Rohl has left no stone unturned when it comes to his coaching staff and Bibbo is the latest to arrive.

The fans had a first chance to see what he’s all about on the training ground this week.

In the latest training video, Bibbo comes across as very determined and encouraging of the team’s goalkeepers.

In one shot, Rohl is seen coming over to observe and he hopes that Bibbo can help the club’s custodians.

Bannan dazzles

There’s life in the old dog yet!

Bannan might be 33-years-old but it would seem that he’s still capable of the sublime.

The midfielder will be 34 next month but the captain doesn’t appear to be showing signs of regression.

In the latest training clip, he can be seen producing magic moments during mini-games in training.

His footwork on show in Wednesday training was dazzling and he leaves his teammates purring with one finish that features a little dummy beforehand.

There will come a time when Wednesday have to replace Bannan.

However, it would appear that he’s got a little bit more in the tank just yet as the Owls look to survive relegation.
