Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan has heaped praise on Bailey Cadamarteri. The young striker has scored three senior goals having been handed a chance to shine under Danny Rohl.
The Owls claimed another huge three points against QPR on Saturday at Hillsborough. Cadamarteri scored for Wednesday as they moved within six points of getting out of the relegation zone.
The 18-year-old is enjoying a brilliant breakout campaign. He kicked things off by scoring double figures for the under-21s in the first months of the season and Rohl has handed him a chance.
He’s grasped the opportunity with both hands and now he looks like he’s becoming undroppable in the Wednesday team. Bannan has certainly been impressed and he’s lauded the talented gem.
Cadamarteri praised by Wednesday captain Bannan
The experienced midfielder has seen it all at Wednesday. He’s a real stalwart at Hillsborough and now he’s praised Cadmarteri for his impact on the team.
He told The Star: “He’s done really well. He’s got three goals now and he’s stepped in when people have been out injured. He’s brought his goalscoring from the under-21s onto this scene and he’s been brilliant so far.
“He got a new contract, deservedly so, and it’s about knuckling down now. It’s only the start, he’s got good people in front of him here he can learn from off the pitch and on it as well. He’s in a good place and long may it continue.”
Cardamarteri can star under influence of Rohl
The striker recently signed a long-term deal at the club. Wednesday can now look forward to Cadamarteri spending many years continuing his development with the Owls.
He’s really taken to life in the Championship with aplomb. Ultimately, he will need to keep improving and under Rohl, there is enough evidence that he can improve further.
Cadamarteri tries hard in every single game and the Wednesday fans have noticed that. Furthermore, he’s got himself into some good positions and has richly deserved his three goals.
Bannan is right though. Now is the time for the youngster to knuckle down and prove that his start to life in the first team isn’t just a flash in the pan.
Wednesday star Cadamarteri is an all-action striker. Even if the Owls land another talisman next month, any new addition should be to help the youngster and not hinder him.
